Square FSR sensor • 39.6×39.6mm

Force Sensing Resistors or FSR® are solid polymer thick film devices that exhibit a decrease in resistance as the force applied to the sensor surface increases.

  • for force detection
  • durability
  • ease of integration
  • recognized design
  • insensitive to vibrations and ESD
  • service life> 10 million cycles

The Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) was invented by the founder of Interlink Electronics, who spearheaded the adoption of the technology across a wide range of industries. FSRs are piezoresistive sensors that use two sets of electrically separate interdigital fingers printed on a conductive substrate. A thin spacer separates the circuit from a layer of conductive ink. When force or pressure, from human contact or another source, is applied to the sensor surface, the conductive ink creates shunts between the two sets of fingers, completing the circuit and lowering the resistance of the device, which can be measured.

The resulting sensor is thin, flexible and resilient. Plus, their low cost and easy integration make them a great choice for scalable projects.
